What about fuel?

Fuel stations are easily accessible countrywide. We recommend using Petrolimex or PV Oil.  There are some remote locations where it may a little harder to find fuel stations, but with a little planning you will be fine.  In these areas you will also find roadside stores selling fuel in bottles. We would advise against this, unless necessary to get yourself out of trouble.

Remember: Google Maps is your best friend and relatively accurate.

What if I get a flat tyre?

Unfortunately, punctures are not uncommon. Road conditions are perhaps not as good as you are used to and there are plenty of nails/bolts/trash on the road that can cause a puncture. Luckily, tyre repairers are everywhere! As soon as you notice the tyre going down a little, please take it to a repairer.  All of our scooters have tubeless tyres; any puncture can be easily plugged. The semi-automatics have tubes, and these can also be easily patched. The cost will be approximately USD2 for a repair and you will be back on the road in 5 minutes.

You can identify tyre repairers (Vá xe) usually by a tyre hanging on the roadside and an air compressor nearby.  All mechanic workshops (Sửa xe) can also repair tyres.

Do not ride on a flat tyre; you will damage the tyre itself and the wheel. If these are damaged, they cannot be repaired and must be replaced. This is quite expensive and will be deducted from the deposit.

Where should I park my bike?

Simple… always park in an area with a security guard. They will give you a ticket and take good care of your bike. Even street side parking areas have security guards, so it will be easy to find a suitable spot near your destination. Do not lose the ticket; it can be very complicated to reclaim your bike without this!

Also, do not park on the street overnight, there is a very high possibility the bike will either be stolen or confiscated by the police. This is very common. We cannot offer insurance for theft of the motorcycle and the renter will be responsible for the full replacement value of the bike. Hotels, guesthouses and Airbnb’s will all have onsite parking or be able to recommend a safe location.

What can I carry on a Scooter and Motorbike?

On all models you will be able to carry a backpack on the rear of the seat and a small bag in front of you. We provide a rear luggage rack and straps. In front of you we have also installed a front rack and hooks where you can keep a small backpack, and hang some smaller items, for easy access.

If its convenience you’re after, then we recommend a Givi TopBox. We can install on any model scooter or motorbike (please book in advance). These 40L boxes provide convenient, secure and waterproof storage for all your belongings. They are also simple to remove at the end of a long days’ ride without the hassle of straps. We can provide these for USD 2/day.

What about Drink Driving?

DON'T DO IT! Vietnam has a strict no drink driving law. You are not permitted to drive/ride with any alcohol in your system whatsoever. Whilst in many countries the limit is 0.05% or 0.08%, Vietnam has a 0.00% limit! Traffic police carry breathalyser machines and strictly enforce the limit. Penalties are high and can lead to confiscation of the scooter/motorbike.  On top of that your travel insurance won't cover you for any accident or injury. It’s just not worth the risk.

What if I break down?

All of our scooters and motorbikes are very well maintained, and breakdowns are extremely rare. For those heading out of Ho Chi Minh City you will likely be on one of our Honda’s or Yamaha’s.  These are very reliable machines.  However, sometimes unforeseen things happen! If you are in Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc or Bien Hoa just message/call us and we will come out and help you. If you are further afield, we will ask you to take the scooter/motorbike to the nearest Yamaha or Honda service center (don’t worry, every town has one). If the cause of the breakdown is not caused by misuse, we will cover all costs of repairs and reimburse you, just send us a photo of the receipt.

Do you offer some form of insurance?

Vietnam is different than other countries in that we do not provide insurance when you rent from us. All the costs of repairs or damage caused by riders are your responsibility. Where possible, this will be first deducted from your deposit. However, if the maintenance or repair cost is higher, you will be asked to pay. If there is a theft or confiscation due to misuse of the motorbike, you will be asked to pay the replacement cost of the motorbike at market value.

For resident long term renters it is possible to arrange insurance coverage for your scooter through you local insurance provider.

About service
What are your current rates based on?

We offer two different types of scooter/motorbike rental rates - traveller and commuter. Commuter prices are less because they are designed for longer-term use and require less maintenance due to fewer kilometers being travelled and most activity happening on city roads. The risk of damage is significantly less with our commuters.

About service
How do you calculate long-term rates?

We base our pricing on how long you will need a bike. We have a primary monthly price that is then cut in half for weekly rates and about 10% of the monthly value for daily rates. This will vary depending on the type of bike you are renting and your purpose.

Is there a deposit required?

Like our prices, our deposits vary based on the use of your time with our motorbikes rentals, whether you are a commuter or traveler, and if you are a return client. We ask for a deposit just in case any damages occur while you are using one of our excellent bikes.
